Affirmative action can and does enthrone mediocrity. Racial profiling vis a vis terrorism is plain common sense. Do you think that during the war against IRA terrorism, the UK authorities would have looked twice at a Muslim? Amid a rabies epidemic, would the authorities look twice at your cat? The efficiency of any society depends upon the empowering of the most qualified to exert viligance over the most suspect.
