What things do you do as a volunteer in a hospital lab??

I would like to know what things do you do or expect to do when you volunteer in a lab?? I am thinking about becoming a lab technician. Today was my first time as a volunteer in a hospital lab. I prepared some cultures of urine (I did some of them in a microbiology lab in the university, but not urine or feces), I was taught different methods depending on the tests that needed to be done. I was taught different microorganisms/parasites in the slides (microscope) so that I can identify them, I identified a person's blood type using a method, I inoculated cultures, etc. Are those things that you expect to do as a lab volunteer in a hospital or am I lucky to experience those things?? I am volunteering 20 hours a week, is that okay???
